We are aware of reports of heavy rain in the Catalonia region, leading to transportation disruptions and red weather warnings in the area. While this may initially seem like a cause for concern, the latest official guidance should put your mind at ease.
Is it safe to travel to Catalonia?
Yes. The FCDO has not changed its travel advice for Spain or the Catalonia region. As travel advice remains unchanged, all travel plans are unaffected, and holidays are currently planned to go ahead as scheduled.
What is happening with the weather in Catalonia?
Heavy rainfall has caused localised transportation disruptions and triggered red weather warnings across parts of Catalonia. However, weather conditions are set to improve from Wednesday onwards, meaning you can expect the sunshine to return very soon.
What should I do now?
If you are due to travel, you can continue with your holiday plans as planned. To ensure you stay informed and prepared, we recommend:
- Registering for FCDO Travel Advice email alerts for Spain to receive real-time updates.
- Following any instructions provided by local transport operators and authorities while traveling and in resort.
Can I change or cancel my holiday?
Understandably, you may still feel a little unsure. Because the FCDO has not advised against travel to Catalonia, our standard terms and conditions currently apply, meaning that if you would prefer to move your dates or cancel your booking, standard fees will apply.
Any changes to government travel advice will be communicated to you as soon as possible, and if anything changes that impacts your specific booking, we will contact you directly with plenty of notice.
